Yes, I lived there for a year. And I agree with you; it's a very nice place and a good place to be if you want to explore the rest of Europe.

Yep I do...being a Dutchman...and I can tell you it will be experienced by you as the most open, liberal and candid country of Europe. And you will certainly have no language problems: most of them are pretty English minded! Good to know, that their public transport system is fine: where else in the world you will find public trains running a 24 hours day schedule?...ehhh it is only between Utrecht, Amsterdam, Haarlem, The Hague and Rotterdam, but then you will cover the most interesting corner of the country.
Hope that you have swimming experience too: a lot of land in said corner is...below sea level!
So go this open minded society, enjoy the breath of Dutch life and from there see some other European cities. But do the Dutch experience first.

I was born there, moved to a caribbean island 6 months later. Last visit was in 1985! I heard it's changed a lot! Well that the dutch aint as cheap as they used to be! LOL...
