I am a hs student and, going to take the SAT this year. My problem is i am not a native english language speaker. this is my second year here in the usa. so i am worried that i wouldn't score high enough on the reading and writing part to get into the top rated universities. i know i could get good scores on the maths part. is there any special way i could study to get the scores i need on the reading and writing part?

Are you a US citizen? If not, take the TOFEL and apply as an international student. It will mean you won't need as high of a SAT. Otherwise, just read, read, and keep reading. That is the best way to learn English.

Good Luck!

The english part is harder to study for than the math. Those who score best on the english have generally been reading for a long time. Read challenging books as much as you can. Highlight and look up words you don't know. Spend time after school studying with your english teachers. You'll do fine and if you don't, it's not the end of the world. Good Luck!

There are great many who lived in USA all their life and feel same way. Try and relax before starting test, some basic relaxation techniques might help. Focus on doing best you can, and not trying to be top scorer. Taking prep course might help. See if library near you has materials in this area. In phone book you will find places that sell this material. Most likely there is software on line. Check library first. Never used newer stuff so can make any comments. By just learning English you might be better off than many.

Well first of all try to expland your vocabulary. There are some hard questions about certain words. Study english sentence structures. Learn how to incorporate a varied vocabulary into your writing. Good Luck.
