You can use DDR 400 RAM on a machine that requires DDR 333 RAM but you will only be able to run the DDR 400 RAM at DDR 333 speed but rest assured this is possible.

I am running this configuration on my desktop machine right now. I'm using DDR 400 RAM that's clocked at only DDR 333. Just make sure that in the BIOS the FSB is set manually to 333 Mhz or 166 (in case of AMD bus which is double pumped) or (667 for Intel bus which is quad pumped) and not by SPD (Serial Presence Detect) because SPD will report DDR 400.

The only problem you might run into is an issue of incompatibility. If you already have some RAM installed and you're trying to run it together with this new RAM, it may not work so well but it isn't because of the speed of RAM. Just simply put some RAM are incompatible with other RAM. You can run into the same situation with DDR400 RAM being incompatible with another stick of DDR400 RAM.

sorry dude to the best of my knoledge you simply cant. See the clock on the motherboard has to support 400 clock cycles only then you will be able to use a 400 ram. But dont loose hope go check if you can overclock it by some bios utility and make it possible. Do let me know if you can.

Its on account which you have the 32-bit version of abode windows, it purely reads as much as a useable Max of four gb of ram theoretically, some like my vista company 32-bit version nonetheless says 4gb put in in equipment residences or using freeware like speccy, yet purely makes use of approximately 3.3-3.5 GB Max it allocates for equipment use. it has to do w 32- bit vs. sixty 4-bit math that IM not likely to get into yet honestly you like a sixty 4-bit version of abode windows. this is going to use 4+ GB of ram, do exactly not use any starter variations you're able to be high-quality. i might reccomend abode windows 7 sixty 4-bit expert.

all you do
is plug it in
and it'll work

USUALLY DDR400 & 333 are backwards compatible, BUT that doesn't mean that your computer will run the DDR400 as DDR400, it means that a stick of DDR400 WILL work in yours, but your computer will only see it as DDR333. That can be a good way to overclock your FSB if you wanted too, so that your FSB isn't 333, but runs at near 400, and you'll get a nice speed boost, IF you KNOW what your doing...

BUT as I said, your DDR400 WILL work in your system, but it will most likely see it as 333 if your system doesn't support 400mhz memory.
