Great question, though and I find the responses interesting.
My own thought is that as modern as we are, when it comes right down to it, I don't think we will elect a female president yet. And when we do, we're going to want someone less volatile than Hillary... she's had a bit too much press that shows her ranting and on an emotional edge.
We may need to see a female VP first in order to get used to the idea of a woman moving beyond the post of Sec of State.

The woman cannot even run her own marriage and manage her husband! Why would be trust her with the lives of over 280 million Americans!?
