I think that is as much of a generality as saying all Germans have terrible tempers. Some do, some don't. Just like everyone everywhere in the world.

Traditionally it is said that the Irish have quick tempers. I have not found that to be entirely true. What I have found to be true is that when an Irish person is angered they tend to immediately find a release for it (ie: blow up, throw a tantrum, rant and rave), but then they calm down as quickly as they vented. This is opposed to those who will stew on things, and let things that anger them fester for weeks, and sometimes months. I'm not a psychologist so I cannot say which is better.
But this quick release/venting of anger is why the Irish (as well as the Scottish, and others) are branded with having bad tempers. Other groups get angry and let it fester while the Celtic peoples (and others) tend to find an immediate release, which is often a public release.
Hope that answers your question.

That is a stereotype no different than saying black people can dance good or the asians are bad drivers...like all stereotypes not every person in that specific group fits into that stereotype it is just something people come up with because of their own personal assumptions.
I am sure some Irish people do have tempers or else why would there be the stereotype...stereotypes just don't pop up from observing one person of that specific group.

No, I don't think so. I come from an Irish background and have not seen what people classify as an "Irish Temper".

You are stereotyping people. Being Irish does not determine an individual's temperment.

Mostly Scottish here, so can't say for certain...
But if I'd been put through all the stuff that the Irish have endured for the last 200 years, I'd be pretty pissed most of the time myself.
