Why is it celebrities get more notice for their cause...?

other people have illness and cancers and leukemia. But the celebrity gets all the attention focused for THEIR cause. WHY?

Because celebrities *already* are noticed for everything they do, so it's easier.

Everybody also dates and has relationships, but People magazine isn't doing cover stories on Dwayne from next door, and why him and Darla the cashier from the mini-mart are on the rocks.

Our brains are hardwired to recognize authority. It is part of our nature as social animals. This behavior has enhanced our survival as a species by the ability to redirrect resources through social bonds and not just physical means.

Basically celebrity has taken the place of our origional extended tribal connections and interations. Many more people can recognize the 40 most beautiful people in the yearly list... than can recognize and name 40 cousins, their spouces and children.

A psychological principal rules our brains: propinquity. It basically means that the more you see someone, (provided they don't do something to piss you off) the more you will like them.

Advertisers, Salesmen, and Celebrities all are able to use this to their advantage. The more time your eyes spend looking at them, the more weight you give to their words.

Thus their causes get the big bucks.

Great question! And so true. To answer this nice question of yours, it's because the majority of people find it more interesting and entertaining to read about the pathetically limited lives of celebrities than these wonderful people who suffer so much. Sad, isn't it?

They are well known people so lots of people care about them and its not my fault that they are noticed, but it's not fair!!!!!!!!!!1
