The best hummingbird feeders have wasp and bee screens over the "flowers" where the birds access the sugar solution. If your feeder does not have them, consider getting a new feeder. A good feeder won't cost much more than $10.00.

Another common problem is leaks that allow a slow drip of the sugar water contents. Look at where the wasps and bees are feeding and you will quickly see if that is your problem. Either stop the leaks with glue or get a better feeder.

Keep in mind that even the best feeders will attract some bees and wasps form time to time. The hummingbirds will deal with them just as they do with regular flowers.

Just for fun, do a Yahoo search for "hummingbird nest platforms" and explore the results. I just found out about them this summer and intend to install a few of them next summer. I think it would be way cool to watch them raise their young.

Good luck with your feeder.
