Look at Iran. It's a perfect example of what happens when you hold down women in society. The country is all about fighting, strength, jumping around in the streets.
They don't want to give women power. Guess why. If women had power, do you think that they would put up with these men? NO FU*KING WAY. These terrorist AS*HOLES would get NO SEX. Women are a big part of the Democratic party in the USA because they are about social services, caring for the sick, and having good relationships.

The key to getting these societies to change is in giving the women power. That is why Bush will win the Iraq issue. Give women more power, and they will straighten out the men.
PERIOD.

In times past men were the providers and women were the housekeepers (meaning they had the children, took care of them and took care of the house). The women make the men's lives complete, but they found it hard to acknowledge that.

A man without a woman is just a man. WIth a woman, he is a husband, a breadwinner, and (more often than not) a father.

Because women are so important to men and to society, male-dominated groups have made them second class citizens. They try to negate their importance by making it harder for them to live without a man or to change men.

You can say that men are insecure. They fear losing their women because they would lose some of their own importance.
In the Muslim world, for instance, women are rarely allowed to hold jobs of their own and must seek the permission of their fathers or husbands to do things we take for granted.

That isn't true for all cultures. Sociology might be a great subject for you to study. you might really enjoy it.

Also, the domination of men over women is not universal, meaning in some cultures men and women (as well as other genders) are equal.

Men come first in most cultures, including our... very recently it has begun to change(past 50 years)... so it will be alright in the future. I think the reason for this is because Men have always been leaders, its the default concept in humans. Women have always been the mothers who procreate...

Men are physically stronger and more aggressive
Men are not occupied with bearing children, but are expected to support women in raising the young who might or might not be their own, and always want to be sure about progeny.
A supportive male is important for a woman with children.
all these creates in primitive societies a state where a man owns a woman/women - they become property and trade their freedom for safety/ support. most of these causes remain relevant in modern society, so equality for women is slow to come

What is "our" culture? And if you're talking about Western culture in general, what makes you think women come first? Discrimination and violence against women is a global problem, and is not limited to one culture.

Also, there were many Native American tribes that were matriarchal.

Countries that were formed on Judeo-Christian values honor women.
Christians were the first people to place women on equal status with men.

It is true that in some periods in our history, women were second class citizens but that is not a Biblical doctrine; that is merely male stupidity.
