In January I'm transferring to Western Carolina University to get my Bachelor's. I'm not staying on campus because I'm 26 and really want my own space. Plus after a year of living there I can get in state tuition. More than likely I will be geting a job in Asheville which is an hour from the University. Ideally I'd like to find a place halfway between the two, so my commute would only be 30-40 min. Any reccommendations?

I'm moving from Cascade, MD which is a little over an hour outside of Baltimore & DC and about 25 minutes from Frederick, MD. I'll also be visiting the university in early October to get an idea of things.

Also, how do you pronounce Cullowhee?

The towns in between WCU and Asheville are: Waynesville, Canton, Enka-Candler, and Leicester. Sylva is technically between the two, but is really the same town as Cullowhee. Pretty much all of these towns have affordable places to rent. Cashiers and Brevard are close by but are generally pretty expensive as they are resort towns. Franklin is only about half an hour away, but its across a pretty unfriendly mountain you aren't going to want to cross every morning. I would recommend Waynesville, as its about the midway point between the two, and is fairly eclectic.
