I think 13 is too young.
But at 15 she should be allowed to wear lipgloss and eyeliner.
I mean don't let her put on pounds of foundation, blush and eyeshadow... just lip gloss and eyeliner will be okay.
After all lip gloss and eyeliner don't make you look s.l.u.t.t.y but the whole face mask thing does.

Your little cousin is growing up, whether anyone wants her to or not. I think that starting at 13 a little make-up is just fine. I would not let my daughter wear certain colors, and certain products.
But a little colored blush, some light colored eyeshadow, and pink lipsticks would be fine.
If she's like I was, she maybe wearing some of her friend's make-up from school. I did that too! So, I would rather her have her own and in a young woman's colors. I don't think eyeliners and browns, reds and darkening eyebrows is right at that age.
Take her shopping with parent's permission of course, and buy some nice products, and some good cleaning soap. I don't wear a lot of make up either, but when my daughter turned 13, we made a big girl shopping day. We went to lunch and went a bought some make-up and a little bag for her. It was a day that I will always treasure in my heart, because I was giving her the ok to grow up. Remember all the doubts and fears when you were her age, it's just always about wearing it, it's a growing up process...
Now, days they have all kind of younger girl stuff, I know I just took a neice shopping for "her first" . But allowed to wear makeup yes.........

If she feels like she's ready to wear makeup then let her. she's trying to grow up. If you say no then she could take it as though you think she's still a little kid and not a teenager. Make sure you show her how to apply it or take her to an Avon or Mary Kay lady or something that will show her the proper way to put it on and give her a product that will match her skin color and won't make her break out. If her friends are all starting to wear makeup and she's not allowed to, then she might feel left out and it will lower her self esteem. It's really not that big of a deal.

i started wearing makeup at 12 but i just wore eye shadow and lip gloss and sometimes glitter. and now i'm 13, almost 14 and i'm allowed to wear mascara. if she wants to wear makeup, ease into it. start with just lip gloss and eye shadow. then in about a year add mascara. i would suggest staying away from eyeliner until about 14 or 15, cuz it looks really bad if you are too young. and make sure someone shows her how to apply it. the last thing you want is for a kid to walk out the door looking like a clown. i've seen people like that at school all the time. lol
i think she should start with just lip gloss and eye shadow. if she wants makeup that wont cost a lot, go to claires. they have makeup that looks good on young girls for a small price.
hope this helps

No. wearing making really does affect you skin. If you a teenager wears make up it can cause more damage then adult skin. because teens and preteens are already having skin problems and clogged pores from oilier skin during puberty. So by the time they turn 25 they'll have to wear makeup all the time, to hide all the damage to their skin. I was never really a makeup wearer and I can go out and look good with just a little lipstick/gloss and maybe a tad bit of eye makeup and I'm 30 now.

Talk to her parents. Offer to go with her to a store that sells hypo-allergenic make-up. All she really needs is a bit of lip gloss, a light eyeshadow color, a tiny bit of mascara, and maybe a little blush or bronzer. I started wearing clear lip gloss when I was about 12, and since then I have added little by little to my make-up assortment. Just make sure that she doesn't use eyeliner, foundation, or concealer. Those are for older women and can hurt young girls' skin.

Yes, it's fine at that age. But teach her how to make it look natural, not caked on. Teach her how sometimes less is more. It may even be fun to take her to a make up counter or sephora store and have a cosmetic consultant give her a lesson in color choices and the application/removal of products. I was 13 when I started wearing some makeup and it hasn't hurt my face one bit.

STOP AND READ THIS ANSWER!!! First of all, the more make up you pack on over the years DOES make a LARGE impact on your skin. My little sister is 14 and I will not let her wear makeup yet I am a cosmetologist and a beautician and BELIEVE ME!!!
Makeup is not good for young faces...It's NOT GREAT for older people but it is cute and people love to dress up but personally...the later the start, the better

I have a 13 and a 15 year old daughter and I find nothing wrong with them wearing makeup. They don't wear a lot of it so I think that helps. Just remember "more isn't always better!"

My belief is that girls wear makeup at her school and that her parents say, "No". I'm from the "old school" and parents' wishes count. However, if it is her decision, go with the norm but with just a small amount. Show her how pretty you are without it.
P.S. I too have known many females who look great with just a bit of lipstick.
