The middle of my violin bow is darker than the rest of the bow...why and how can I fix it?

If it's a real wood bow, it can be due to either the properties of the wood itself or the way it was finished (stained). Also, most bows are handled more at the ends than in the middle therefore showing more signs of wear (handling) at the ends.

If it's a fiber or other composite material type of bow, it may be the way the manufacturer finished it to emulate an expensive wooden bow. Or just a bad color mold injection.
The best way to find out is to take your bow to the nearest & most reputable stringed instrument (NOT a guitar shop but stringed instrument as in violins, violas, cellos, & double basses shop) and have it looked at.

I hope this helps!

You didn't say if it was the hair or the stick. If it's the stick, I don't think it matters. If it's the hair, tighten the hair a little bit and put on LOTS of rosin, perferably good rosin, like Jade or even Hill.
