I think allot of it is perception and an ageless question. Each generation sees the next as being worse.
In reality as the information pipeline advances, you hear more and more that you would not have been heard about 50 years ago. as the number of people in the world grows so does the crime and injustice. So the real question might be how much has changed and how much is attributed to greater access to information as technology advances.

Unfortunately, we are a society as a whole that finds the bad news news worthy - not so much the good. Perhaps that comes from too many people needing to hear or say the worse of others to make themselves feel better.

Mankind has always had the same opportunities to choose right or wrong! There are more people than ever before and things are accelerated many times,so depending on what choice is made we reach that point earlier!
