There were approximatly 18 years between episode 3 and 4, plenty of time to forget one of many droids he has met. The only real mistake is the fact tha oni says "I don't seem to recall ever owning a droid" ( I think I quoted that proporly)and he definatly did owne several droids Of course it could just be more of his attempt not to tell luke the full story about his dad.

Seriously, Obi Wan lives in a technological universe with thousands of robots. That blue robot is like just another blue car to you or me.
Or you can chalk it up to the vagaries of not being able to perfectly mesh two movies that were written thirty years apart.
