I'm right in the middle of the PS2 port of Liberty City Stories, but I say San Andreas is the best of them all. I loved Vice City for it's dead-on 80's sattire, but San Andreas was the better game overall. The depth was overwhelming. You could spend days roaming around doing all the game had to offer without even doing storyline missions and still have fun. I also liked the wardrobe system. That was neat.

San Andreas is the superior game, but I wasn't excited about it as much as when Vice City came out. That was the one I anticipated the most.
Both Vice City and San Andreas had blantently stolen material, from cinematic story-lines, such as Scarface, and "hood" movies. I subtract points from both of them, which gives the original GTA: III my award for most original.
San Andreas had the good fortune of being made the most recent, which meant the developers could utilize the best technology. Oh, and they made some mistakes too. For one, the soundtrack... S-U-C-K-E-D! They probably didn't spend anything on the songs they acquired, and the number of hits they had didn't compare, at all, to Vice City.
Liberty City Stories, I haven't played, but I can tell from reading a lot of reviews it isn't on par with San Andreas, which I'll award as the best game.

San Andreas is the best i think but i Love vice city since it was my first gta game and i like liberty city stories as well.

San Andreas It has way better graphics than vice city, or liberty city trust me I have all the games

Well, for me, I was a teenager in the 80's so Vice City is my personal fave. They really captured the whole Miami Vice, New Wave vibe as far as I was concerned. (Plus I absolutely love the radio commerical for the Degenatron - "Save the green dots with your fantastic flying red square!" "Swing from green dot to green dot with your red square monkey!" Really summed up the early days of videogaming!!) It was an easy game, too. I thought some of the missions in San Andreas were a little tough, like Learning To Fly, although I loved that game too. Particularly the crazy Latina biotch in the cabin who keeps having crazy sex with CJ and then threatens to kill him LOL! Those games both have moments that make me laugh out loud. I can't wait to see the next one!

they are all great and only 20 bucks each. get em all for only 80 bucks. GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas andGTA Liberty City Stories.

i think all of them are pretty good but i like vice city the best i wasnt big on san andreas but thats just me

San Andreas is much better. There's way more freedom, more space, more player options, more cars, more features, better gameplay, better graphics. There's just so many better things than the previous GTAs. But I bet GTA4 for PS3 will be the best.

vice city was the most fun, the others were good, but not as fun as vice city
