I find that if you are looking online, in chatrooms or classified ads, or if you are looking in bars, you don't have much success.
I think you are better off getting involved in activities where you are going to meet gay people. This could include gay organizations, volunteering for a AIDS community based charity or a political campaign, joining a gym or a bike club, going to a gay affirming church and getting involved, etc. You'll meet people who are interesting, fun and involved in live, and some of them will be gay, and one of them will be for you!

You meet them mixed in with the catty, bitchy, insulting gay men. There are no bars, no clubs for polite people. What you have to do is meet lots and lots of people, weed out the ones you don't like, and stick with the ones you do. You're going to get your feelings hurt. That's part of being alive. But the more decent people you meet and surround yourself with, the more likely you are to meet similar people. Birds of a feather and all that.

I'm not a gay man, but I'm assuming you are probably meetin men at bars and clubs? Whether straight or gay, men met in bars and clubs for the most part are skanks. You can't trust 'em. Try online dating services, local clubs (not nightclubs) etc. There are good men, straight or gay, you just have to try the right place.

maybe you're hanging out in the wrong places, picking up the wrong guys. Find men's groups which involve a specific activity that you like (basketball, camping, jogging, bicycling,etc.).and d start from there.

good question, if you are lucky and can find a boyfriend you can just hang out with him all time and not be bothered by anyoneelse. if you set up a yahoo 360 page you can search for gay guys in your area and get to know them from there. good luck
