This quote is from President Bush in a speech in Salt Lake City last week.

Does this mean the we in the U.S. should listen to his advice, stop funding nuclear weapons, and devote that money to our transportation and education system?

It would be a mistake to assume that "focus" meant to channel all resources to one department to the exclusion of all others. In this context it means the primary focus of funding should be social works projects, and military funds should be secondary. I don't know the national budget but we probably spend more on education than nuclear programs.

Jesus Christ, the last thing we need to do is throw more money at the education system. Of all the boondoggles in the world, the U.S education system is the boondogglest.

Sure - I guess that means your voting Republican than because the US Gov't hasn't built any new Nuclear weapons or other WMD's in years. Some how I don't think you mean that though.

He's not really saying that we should stop funding our nukes. We have to be able to protect ourselves. Many other countries have them, and so we should hold on to ours.

What he's saying is that he shouldn't be held accountable for not finding them. He's talking about Iraq. Funny how he gets to pcik and choose what he answers for. Essentially he's telling us to either get over ourselves, and that we have no right to question him on this issue.

As an American, it is my job to question every choice and decision made on my behalf. It's my responsibility and my duty, as it is every American's. We can't allow our leaders to brush off our concerns by telling us that they have bigger fish to fry.
