Just be yourself - remember, there are people there who are just as apprehensive and scared about how to act as you are. There are also people there who probably scored a lot better on entrance exams than you did and some who scored a lot worse so don't allow yourself to be intimidated by those who did better. They put their pants on the same way you do - one leg at a time, so they're no better than you are.

Go to class prepared - although most teachers don't lecture on the first day there are some who do. The usual first day routine is to go over the course syllabus, check the roll to make sure everyone is in the right room and class and to answer any questions students may have about course content.

Don't be afraid to ask questions - too many people seem to be intimidated by their teachers. They are there to help you, so don't be afraid to raise your hand. Chances are there are other people with the same question, but they're afraid to raise their hands.

The teacher is your friend - they aren't there to play God although some do have a God complex - you'll find that most are more than willing to answer your questions and to give you any help you may need.

You are about to enter into a very exciting and fulfilling time of your life - so go in with a good attitude and you'll get everything out of it that you can and it will make a big difference in the future years. Have an open mind to all things and above all have fun!

Good Luck!!!

Don't act nervous. Upperclassmen will sense it and some will exploit it. Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear. If people sense that you are intelligent, smart, some people will purposefully tell you the wrong information to trip you up. Do relax, focus on your academics, try to make some new friends but don't try to be something you are not or else you will look stupid and make an *** of yourself. College can be fun, exciting, and useful but it's what you make of it!

Wear something cool but comfortable, especially a good pair of walking shoes if the campus is large.

Go to all of your classes all the time. If you don't you will jus spend more time studying because you will not know what to study. Most teachers will give you a good approximation of what will be on their tests and that is the material that they spend most of class time on, but you have to be there. That is a big mistake a lot of college students make- thinking they don't really need to attend class regularly.

Make sure your scheduled courses are correct. Learn where your classrooms are located. Don't slack off because it's your first day. With good professors you could get sense of what will be expected for course. be yourself and learn routine. Most are feeling same things you are feeling. During free time explore campus. Nice to know where bathrooms, snack area, meal areas are located, and leave most of your worrying for mid-term exams.

Most of the people there are going to be just as nervous as you are. Just be yourself, and remember you are there to get an education. If you make friends while you are at it that's great, but make sure you get the education you are paying for.
