The crusades took place in jerusalem. The war was over the holy land because it is considered the kingdom of heaven or GOD. Christians were out to claim jerusalem and christianity while the muslims were simply trying to spread the word throughout the land. They could care less for jerusalem. They were more geared at spreading islam. And jerusalem was just part of the land that needed to be converted.
But the holy war is still going on all over the globe. Now the crusades has polotics involved. But muslims still fight for the same thing. It is just that the extremists took it to a different level.

When originally conceptualized, the aim was to recapture Jerusalem and the Holy Land from the Muslims while supporting the Byzantine Empire against the Muslim Seljuq expansion into Anatolia. The fourth crusade however was diverted and resulted in the conquest of Constantinople. Later crusades were launched against various targets for a mixture of religious, economic, and political reasons, such as the Albigensian Crusade, the Aragonese Crusade, and the Northern Crusades.

The crusades occurred in Jerusalem, which is in Isreal. There were three Crusades, and all were to gain control of the Holy Land (Jerusalem), which I believe was to be the birthplace of Christ (no I don't have a religion). I remember reading about it somewhere in my encyclopedia set...
Try searching the web for more information. Good luck on your homework :)

some crusades took place in syria, palestine, and as far south as egypt.
others took place in spain and germany, and still others took place in france.
some interesting people to read up on: pope innocent, pope urban, Alexius I Comnenus, Peter the Hermit , Raymond IV of Toulouse, Godfrey of Bouillon, and just about anyone named baldwin (yes the baldwins were everywhere you looked even back then too) for 1st crusade
also lion heart, and saladin, 2nd crusade
the children's crusades,
Louis VII of France and Conrad III of Germany 3rd crusade
it eventually goes up to crusade 7 or 8 depending on which book you read
for example the crusade of 1101 was so disasterous, the pope tried to forget about it and it didn't recieve and official #

Crusades Occured in Jerusalem. Both christians and muslims believed This place to be their holy land. Muslims held it and christians wanted it. So they went to jerusalem n claimed it. But muslims never gave up. Muslim sultan Salahuddin claimed it back and ever since its theirs. See the movie "Kingdom of heaven" for related stuff.
