Lame answers, it just will not start or run. The pistons need to rotate and cant if the cylinders are full of exaust fumes. It will NOT explode.

Bad things happen! Your engine needs to get rid of exhausts (just like it needs to breath in, it needs to breath out). Kids sometimes stuff a potato in a tail pipe. The car will start but it won't run very long. There should be no permanent damage if the obstruction is removed.

Mythbusters tested this and the car started every time. No matter how clogged it was it just blew the object out of the exhaust.
