Ok, you have two parents. So, if one of them was the grand chief, you'd be 50%. (1 out of 2)

Grandparents (1 out of 4): 25%.

Great-grand parents (1 out of 8): 12.5%

Great-great-grand parents (1 out of 16) : 6.25%

Great-great-great-grand parents (1 out of 32) : 3.125%

Of course, this all depends on if your ancestor had children with a woman of the tribe, and if their children had children with tribe members, etc.

You start with a known ancestor, such as your great grandfather or grandmother. They were full blooded Indian, so you grandmother or grandfather would be 1/2 Indian. then you mother or father would be 1/4 leaving you to be 1/8th. Each marriage reduces your blood line by 1/2.

You hjave to find out what your parents, grand parents were.
ex.
Tigger woods father was 1/4 indian
1/4 black
1/2 white
his mother was 100%asian
this makes tigger woods
1/8indian
1/8black
1/4 white1/2 asian.
so contrary towhat most blacks folks are sprouting off tiger is not the best balck golfer in history.just the best golfer in history.

Make a family tree. Or find out what percents you are in other descents and subtract that from 100. Good luck, I did this and found out I was Swedish!

You have to make a family tree on both you mothers and fathers side. Let's say your relative Madockawanda was your great-great grandfather, you would be 25 % native American (if I figured it correctly).

LOL... Any relation to Lt Houlihan's finace in M*A*S*H* ?

Donald Penobscot... I didn't think that was a real name.

You have to go to the tribe elder and track your genology. You can trace it up to a point in the US documents but after that, you have to prove it through the tribe councel itself.

trace your ancestry back then write to the tribes headquarters and see what their requirements are. a lot depends upon the individual requirements if you're interested in getting registered and for BIA number or recognition.
