My ex-boyfriend snuck my credit card out of my wallet and charged $5000.00 at a furniture store. I did not know this until I got my bill in the mail. I called them and asked them to give me my money back and they could go collect the items from where they delivered it. They told me to go collect the items from where they delivered it and they would try to resale them and give me the money back from the resale. DOes this sound INSANE to anyone. What store does not check I.D. on a $5000.00 credit card purchase?

What does it matter where fault lies at this point? Your ex must be very angry w/ you and it sounds like you are lucky to "rid" of such a person maybe get an attorney I cannot imagine a store doing this Not checking ID Is the sales person a "friend " of your EX? You need help from a person who knows the law in this instance and take action quickly Or tell your ex you are sending a truck and 3 large guys to pk up said furniture and move it to YOUR house...This is very odd...

File a Police report for Theft of the credit card.
The $5000 makes it a felony in TX.
Call your credit card company and file a theftt report, Then mail a certified return letter to them. You do not owe the money . Your " boyfriend" is a thef ! no matter who or what his dad is. Buy some signs - state the facts and picket the scum's workplace.
As for the threat by the dad, =s a terroristic threat and is a crimminal act.

The store is totally at fault. Why did they even allow it in the first place? You are a woman with a woamn's name I presume. He is a guy using a woman's card? Report this to your card company and you have to go to the police unfortunately. The man screwed up and you shouldn't have to pay for it. You are not liable for this. I hope he didn't do this in Texas. You can get 2 to 20 years now for that. The laws are getting real strict here for theft.

This does sound insane...but I wouldn't be calling the store, I would be calling the police and the credit card company. Tell the credit card company that your card was stolen and that you dispute the charge and tell the police your ex stole your card...

i would have gone straight to the police, had the transaction reversed thru the credit card company, and let the ex and the store deal with it themselves. if that doesnt work, steal the furniture back =).

This is not your fault and contact your credit card company - let them deal with it. Just understand that your ex-bf may go to jail.
