A life of crime, a stain, even a baby all get "in" easier than you can get "out". The fly that finds its way into your home through an open window but then for some reason can't find the same window to leave.....why is this? What things are easier to get "out" than "in"?

I don't think of it that way - "in" and "out". I think that having a baby, participating in crime, etc. are things that are EASY for people to do, because there is immediate pay off - sex is good because people enjoy it right then and there. Crime, like stealing, or dealing drugs, or mugging someone for money, provides an immediate payoff - money. Basically, people are weak. They find it easy to do what pays off right then and there. People find it difficult to work hard for minimal money in order to have a larger payoff down the road, or abstain from things that feel good in the moment. This is basically the problem with society. It is what has lead to obesity - people want to feel good now - they want to eat their junk food now - instead of working hard, so that months down the road, they can lose weight, be healthier, and feel better. I find that this is what sets people who are above average apart from other people - being able to force themselves to do what other people won't. E.g. staying home and studying while friends go out and party, working extra hours at the office instead of leaving early, working out instead of going out to dinner at a pizza place, etc.

Interesting question! I think it's easier to make mistakes or end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it takes a process of learning to get out, step by step. We all want an easy way "out" but we can't do that without learning something new, a new skill, a new lesson, a new way of looking at things, life, whatever that might be.

Hrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
But then, getting in isn't THAT easy. I mean if you think about it, there are a whole lot more flies out there than there are flies inside.
However I do know what you mean. And I think it's because an event has occurred. The 'getting in' part is the beginning of the story - it's just the beginning - a fleeting moment. Then the 'getting out' part is the story itself. It's easy to start things, harder to persevere and finish them. That's why people who don't think about long-term consequences end up in trouble - like flies, messy eaters, and people who need money for drugs. (not that I'm judging any of these groups.)

Good question. I guess when you talk about in- It's an addiction, or something we shouldn't be doing because it's a place we dont belong, usally something more attractive than what we think we have. those things are more attractive because they are the easy way. We don't want to go back to the hard way.
