First, break down the numbers into it's smallest factors:

Take 84, for example. It's even, so we can divide it by 2.
84 / 2 = 42.

42 is still divisible by 2, so let's continue.
42 / 2 = 21.

2 will no longer go into 21 evenly, but we can divide it by 7.
21 / 7 = 3.

Now we know what prime numbers make up 84.
2 * 2 * 7 * 3.

This equates to:
2^2 * 3 * 7 = 84, right?

Do the same for 96, 72 and 250.
-----------------------------

The answers are:
2^5 * 3 = 96

2^3 * 3^2 = 72

2 * 5^3 = 250

Hope this helps.

Ways to do these problems is to use a factor tree or a division ladder.

Example - factor tree:
84
is the same as 4 times 21
4 is the same as 2 times 2 and 21 is the same as 3 times 7

2, 3, and 7 are all prime numbers
so 84 = 2^2 times 3 times 7

All the others can be done the same way.

Good luck.

start with 84 and divide, I use 2 because its an evan number
so.....
84/2=42 then divide again, using 2 because its even
42/2=21 divide again, using 3 because it is a factor of 21
21/3=7

3 and 7 are prime factors, so your factorization is 2x2x3x7, so 2^2x3x7 is your answer

Now you try the next one
