as a classic i'd have to say Sailor Moon. It was one of the most well writen and most famous anime of its time. I love it; especially the undubbed versions. For a more modern pick i'd have to say Inu Yasha. It was a full body cast of characters that keep you entertained and guessing till the very end. And the plots are interesting.

I personally love this cute little mahou shoujo anime that everyone else seems to hate. It's called Wedding Peach. People are quick to judge it as a Sailor Moob "rip-off" but it clearly is not.
Wedding Peach is about a group of three girls who are given the powers to become fighting angels to save the world from being taken over by devils. Their own personal lives contribute and are affected by their crusade against the hate being spawned by the devils.
I love the music of the series. The women in the dubbed English verision and the Japanese verision did very well with bringing out the true characters. I like the struggles they show and how they are affected in real life.
It's clearly not Sailor Moon. Watch the entire first episode unbiased and you'll see how different it is.
So that's it. My favorite anime, Wedding Peach!

Full Moon Wo Sagashite. If you're gonna watch it the beginning is kinda slow but towards the middle it gets really good. It'll be hard to find a better anime.

rurouni kenshin simply because this title is what got me into watching anime .... i've watched the whole tv series,every oavs and all of the movies of this title and i can confidently say that all of 'em are g00d :D

The old classic Gundam Wing and Tenchi Muyo....and Outlaw Star. Awesomeness. Most of this new stuff is absolute crap, so I guess I like most all of the classics.
Oh and all of the Miyazakis!

I love Case Closed (Detective Conan) and Paranoia Agent. Both shows make you think about what the episodes really mean and how they relate to the bigger story.
