Whatever. Rugby and cricket are sports for the weak minded and weak bodied. The real football and baseball are fast paced rugged sports for those who have a pair. Which obviously you don't.

Last I checked, the two greatest golfers the world has ever seen, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, were American. Golf has been around since before America...I would say that counts as "established". Americans also seem to be decent at Tennis, another "established" sport, our women are the defending soccer World Cup champions, another "established" sport, having medaled in the last 4 World Cups, in fact, Americans generally do well at the Olympics, filled with sports that predate American Independence. So, obviously, you didn't bother to research, because you are probably just some punk kid who thinks his favorite rugby player would stand a chance in a fight against Brian Urlacher or Ray Lewis...AND, by the way, you should check out to see how many players are in Major League Baseball that come from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Japan, and a host of other countries...so before you spout your uninformed mouth off, keep in mind, that while the teams are in America, the players come from all over.

how do you figure we're not good at other sports? don't we dominate the summer olympics every 4 years?didn't we just medal in the basketball world championships? didn't we win the softball world cup last month? didn't a team from columbus GA. just beat japan in the little leauge world series? aren't tiger woods and phil mickleson(2 americans) far and away the 2 best golfers in the world? we just think certain sports, like cricket and soccer, are boring, stupid, and gay, so we don't waste our time watching them. 140 years ago, we took a manly sport the aussies came up with called rugby, and we made it more strategic, hard hitting, and exciting.

Americans had to invent their own sports because the worlds established sports were just too dumb and boring for the American public.

Why does most of Europe live in poverty?
Same answer because they aren't smart enough to change.
The whole world is changing and you're still watching the same boring stuff your great grandaddy watched.
That's like asking why did Americans invent Taco Bell when they could have eaten fish and chips?

Dude , what is your problem ?!!! You sound so jingoistic and
idiotic ! No American ever claimed that American football was invented there. It was actually a variation of an American Indian game that was used to strengthen warriors before battle and they used a leather type sphere to give each warrior speed and agility. And furthermore, here stateside, we have rugby clubs and we can be good at that too. English rules or Australian rules ! Pick your poison !!!

so i guess you are so small minded to think that there can only be the sports that you feel are valid. there are many sports around the globe. Americans either invented the sports they enjoy or modified from something else. so what. try putting your energy towards something productive, like an education.

Because those are English poofter games which only appeal to women and homosexuals. You forgot soccer too, or footie as you call it. If you notice we didn't change any manly games like Golf(Scotland), Hurling(Ireland), Lacrosse and Ice Hockey(Canada) and we even gave the world Basketball which you English tea drinkers changed to netball or some stupid thing.
