okay i have known this friend for 5 years she has a 2 year old daughter and a five year old they both have horrible table manners and she sits there and says nothing what do i do confront her on it? for example we went to a nice steak house the kids were both throwing food screaming, spitting food back in their plates crawling underneath the table etc. and he younger eats like a hog we had a party she went through 4 cupcakes while the other kids only had one and her mother continued feeding them to her she didnt really want them she just wanted to mess over them she started squishing the cake between her fingers and rubbing them all over the table. she is the most messy eater i have ever seen in my life compared to other two year olds they may have a few food stains here and there but she smears food all over her face and hair and clothes and i find it disgusting that her mother sits there and laugh about im embarrassed because the other parents bring their kids there.

How close of a friend are you to this person? I could never stand watching that, i have 3 kids of my own, they are pretty obedient, because that´s how we´ve brought them up to be...
Tell her first of all that it´s not good for her kids to be eating so much, if they´re not already obese they will be....I don´t know, I would be so straigt-forward to tell her that you don´t wanna go out to dinner with her if she´s bringing the kids....because of all the things you stated here, so embarrassing first of all, and just plain wrong!
Tell your friend to cop on!!

Well, there's nothing you can do or say to change your friend's behavior or parenting skills.

All you can do is next time she invites you out to a restaurant with her children, is politely decline and perhaps tell her why. Maybe something like, "You and I can't really visit and talk to each other when your kids are their making so much noise, so why don't we reschedule for sometime when just you and me can go out." or something like that.

It still probably won't work though. Once people have kids, they think that everyone in the world should bow down and worship their little hell-spawns, so chances are your friendship with this woman is over. It's harsh but true.

Try to find some nice child-free friends whom you can enjoy adult activities with, without having to put up with screaming spoiled brats.

Good luck!

Well since you are not this child's mother you can't DO ANYTHING - so decide; do you want this woman as a friend or not? If you do then you say nothing, just try not to eat in the same place with them. If you don't, then tell her why. Good luck.

sounds like a 2 year old. And its none of your business what this mother does with her child, as long as there is no harm. You don't sound like a friend to me.

i think of its extraordinarily gross, god purely is familiar with what else has been on that table it incredibly is now going into the toddlers mouth. in case you do enable them to eat off of the table then i might shop some clorox wipes in my diaper bag to sanatize the table first. good success

As her friend, don't you think you should say something to her? tell her this is the age to start to train them. , Ask her if it"s embarrassing? , when she takes them out to eat. tell her it embarrasses you, and as your friend, I think it is time to start teaching them table manners.

well, i guess its time you tell your friend. honesty is the best policy. if she is a real friend she will listen to what you are saying and maybe try to help the situation. if she gets mad then its not worth your time.
