Whats wrong with this turtle ?

My son found a turtle and it has a big bump on the side of its head, what the heck ?

I really couldn't help you on this one. But if your son wants to keep it for a pet and you let him. I think the best thing to do is go get him checked out. Also what you could do so you wont spend much money is go to Pets Smart and asked them. Sometimes when my Fish get sick that's what I do and they always seem to help me out. Now I know you are thinking this is totally different than the fish. But believe me they are always willing to help out. Also what you could do is take him to a shelter. They always take hurt animals in. I know they could help the turtle out. I don't know much but I do know that the bump he has is not normal. What ever you decide to do careful with your son, Kids seem to be very sensitive when it comes to an animal getting or being hurt. I wish you all the luck

W/O a pic, it's really hard to tell.

Maybe you should just consider releasing the turtle back into natural habitat. Might be best for the turtle.

Consider going to a pet shop and buying your son a turtle - they can tell you more about the caring for one and what's normal and not normal.

There's probably something wrong with it but without a picture its hard to say what. You should take it to the vet or let it back out into the wild. To care for them you have to spend a lot of money on equipment, they need special lights and a large liveing space. Read up on what you need to care for them before you decide to keep it. Visit your local petsmart, and they can tell you what you need for it.
