The problem could either be the phosphors tiring out from 9 years of use, or the magnetics going bad; depends on what "funny looking" is.
Either way, it's time for a new monitor.

Check where it plugs into the computer - the pegs might be bent. One bent peg can throw off all the colours.

9 years? I didn't think it was possible!
