Sure.....
Run a business there for 3 years and went burst..Now back home for 3 yrs & the wounds are healing. I've no complaints. Now, I've plenty of time to waste!. Its better to waste my time reading some stupid questions in this website than the time wasted in the world most horrible traffic jams in Manila
Now seriously, if you want to know of some "nice" places to go
in Manila, I can recommend many places but it all depend on your "liking" and personal profile...
For instance,
if you'r a 60 yrs lady and would like to visit some dirt poor
districts in Manila, the you visit "Tondo". But if you like to pray at a magnificient church, then visit "The Manila Cathedral". Need fresh air in a park, then go for a walk at Rizal Park or Baywalk.
But if you'r a middle age lady and like shopping, then there are
many huge malls in Makati like Robinson or SM City. Smaller
& exotic ones are all over Manila....
But if you'r young and wild, then run down to Malate...plenty of
cafes, bars, restaurants, disco, and "top & bottomles shows".
You can try your luck at Holiday Inn's casino...
Need to visit a mountain resort, take a ><6 hrs ride to Bagiao.
If it rains heavily in Manila, stay in your room. Outside,.. the jams
are worst then hell.....
To enjoy Manila, you must have lots of patience, time and a mask (air pollution) but it's cheap except the hotels...Foods are excellent for westerners and clothing are casual beach wears
You will return home with lots of unforgetable memories...just like
I did but mine are good riddance memories...
Stop by Singapore if you have the time.....it's fun & clean.
Hope above helps.....Enjoy yourself & take care....

Most of Manila is very crowded and polluted, but there are some nice parts, Baywalk(Roxas Boulovard) by night is great, Makati and Alibang are good areas. Most of the nicer places are on the outskirts or outside Manila.

if you like culture, go to intramuros. there are museums inside (casa manila, san agustin church) as well as around the vicinity of intramuros (national museum). here are some travel websites you can check out with regards to guided tours in manila:

if you like shopping, there's always the malls. you can never get enough of them in manila hehe. lots of robinson's and sm malls in every city or town (quezon city, sta mesa, pasig, makati, manila etc.)
eating out is no problem at all since there are a lot wherever you go, especially in ayala center(glorietta and greenbelt), ortigas center, greenhills, libis, the fort, etc.
sure there are some dirty places in manila and you have to be careful but one can overlook the ugly stuff if that person can see the real beauty underneath it. it's just too bad the gov't is having difficulty in managing our tourism industry.

Manila is a crowded city, but is really nice, if you like sky scrappers go and stay in Makati, if you are interested in culture you should visit intramuros and if you are interested in people you should visit Kaloocan, the most amazing days of my life I spent there last month.
