Geology is based on observation. Explanations for those observations are proposed and tested. Between all the observing, hypothesizing, and testing, we end up understanding our world better than we did before. We call that methodology "science," so geology is a science.

Geology is the past of the earth, this is very important because our earth is very old. It gives the history of all of the past climates of earth such as pre-Cambrian, Cambrian etc.....There is a lot of different types of studies for geology it can be minerals, volcanos, hydrology, paleontology (dinosaurs studies/fossils), also about earthquakes, mud slides and other mast wasting events. It is very important to know the history of the earth. We can use geology for a tool to the future and to the past.
