I have a cushioned sheet vinyl floor in my kitchen and have moved the washing machine, there are now dents in the floor when the washing machine's feet were on the vinyl. Is there any way to remove or reduce these marks. I have similar dents where the breakfast bar stools used to go. Underneath the vinyl is a slighly cushioned waterproof membrane (as recommended for laying vinyl on concrete). It seems the vinyl needs to slightly shrink to lessen the dents but i don't know how to achieve this. Thanks

you can use a hair dryer to gentley heat the vinel then it will expand and poof up a bit but heat it slowly and not to hot or it will melt down, next time buy coasters for under the feet.

Take a steam iron to it on light steam - the moisture will help it expand and the heat will loosen it up enough that it will help when it cools and drys to lessen the dents - I don't think it will take them out completely, but it will help. Don't put the iron directly on the vinyl or it will melt it - use a folded towel between the two.

If you have a piece left over from the original and it is a square patterned design then you can very carefully cut out the bad square and replace it with a new one, use a heat gun or hairdryer to carefully remove all old material up...clean it perfectly...then place new replacement into spot. Don't forget to use coasters under the legs of the washing machine before moving it back in to place.
My technique is a proved technique and you will be happy to have it in your toolbox. Good Luck with your your project,

Once you have dents in vinyl flooring you are stuck with them. Maybe with time it may resume it's shape. Even over time vinyl seeks the shape of indentations in the sub-floor.
