I think you chose the appropriate category for your question. You're not asking about religion or spirituality - You're asking about human behavior. Now, with that said;
It has been my experience on the internet as on the phone, people will be emboldened by the lack of face-to-face contact. If there is a point to be made, it gets exaggerated in text. I concur with your observation that some have displayed the behavior of zealots on this site. It concerns me, because I have seen this site as a very useful place in many instances.
In the US, (where freedom to practice any religion is a basic right) the Christian-based religions have always held sway over most political parties, and their decisions. In recent years, the Pagan communities (meaning Pagan by it's simplest definition "...any non-Christ-based religion...") have become ever more vocal. The Christians are losing their grip, and getting desperate. The leaders have been exposed as liars and thieves, and Christians!
Since the most public of their representatives are falling from grace, then the push is on to become bell-weather's of their faith. They feel compelled to "ring out through the darkness" and bring other-wise believers "into the fold". Theology is a very volitile topic for discussion, and the specifics of an individual religion is even more so.
Then there's the element of fear. Since a great deal of the fear that this world is experiencing has been caused by followers of a specific faith (to remain un-named, since this is not a religious elloquery), then desperation mounts. Fear brings on the "flight or fight" instinct. It has sadly, become the norm to fight, rather than take flight. Nobody likes to be attacked, so the result has been diatribe vs. discussion.
Please bear in mind that, as you pointed out, there are a few causing trouble for the many. You can take this back to the 80/20 rule: Twenty percent of the perople will the cause of trouble for the remaining eighty percent. They are the minority, and for that we must be thankful!

Gosh, how can you and so many others be so rude? What a terrrible, NASTY (let me use the same ridiculous emphasizing such as you) shock to see what ignorance and rudeness!
Have you ever heard about letting alone something that you don't understand? That you don't even know about? You're obviously not a Christian, and know nothing about Christianity, so who are you to call being devout to this religion an "obssesion" or "not having a life", as you so "intelligently" and "maturely" put it? And you think bashing religions and religious persons is so much more interesting and not limited? You seem like the limited one to me, to only be reduced to this... hate speech!! Gosh!
And as for the user, I appreciate his questions. I've never been aware of them, but I think they're perfectly normal and decent questions. And if they bother you, then move on. Get over it. No one's forcing you to be religious! Not every Christian or Jew or so is bashing others for not being like them, so start getting a new attitude for starters. They're not right, but you're not anymore more right than them!
Therefore, I seriously hope you'll reconsider your words and feelings and learn to get on with the way YOU want your life and live with the rest. Thank you for reading and have good day. Or night. Period.

remember that there are trolls in right here claiming to be 'atheist' (and 'christian', and each thing else for that count) and are merely attempting to derail the controversy, or incite dis-chord. you are able to overlook approximately, and/or checklist any solutions which you do unlike.

You know, bashing is bashing, but I also see alot of atheists and agnostics bashing religion and beliefs in God.
I know it can be frustrating here sometimes. I just try to remember that all kinds of people, with all kinds of beliefs, viewpoints and opinions post here though.
You have to remember that, based on his profile, our little Donny is living in the dark ages, where a woman's place is behind him, with duct tape across her mouth. He is narrow-minded, most likely racist, homophobic, judgmental and probably believes anyone who doesn't share his (albeit twisted) beliefs is going to hell in a hand basket. In other words, let's HOPE he is an extreme case. If he's not, we're ALL in trouble!

I've noticed that too. I stay out of that category for this reason. Some people are looking for any forum to discuss their religious beliefs and condemn people who don't share them. At least they have their own category so they can all hang out there and get worked up and the rest of us can try to ignore them.

One assumes you are in a position to cast the first stone? Ever hear of the saying, "Live, and let live." If you don't like the questions in the religious section, then just ignore it. As for the user you mentioned, whynotaskdonny, all strength to him! Go well, and God Bless!

I'm fairly sure that that user is a clone of a previous user. Someone is trying to get a laugh at someone else's expense, so don't take it too seriously.

Everybody has their own choice. You can't impose you choice on them as they can't on you. So as an intellectual person you should not hurt anybodies feeling. They like that sort of topic that is why they are there . So you remain where you like please don't complaint as a small child.
