She is totally bored of rice cereal and oatmeal, mixed it with fruit and all sorts. I stuck for ideas, she only has 2 teeth is is not ready for toast things as she chokes. When can they try things like yoghurt?

She is completely bored with rice and oatmeal, even if i mix it with fruits. When can they try yoghurt? Any ideas would be greatfully received. Thanks

Sounds like your baby is getting the foods that she should for her age. There's not much else they can eat at that age. Please don't give instant oatmeal like some one else suggested. They are loaded with sugar and hydrogenated oil, I would't feed them to any child or myself for that matter. What about cream of wheat sweetened with molasses. They are both excellent sources of iron. If you don't find anything, try not to worry. She won't starve herself and will eat what you give her. Offer lots breastmilk or formula. Milk is supposed to be the main food source for the first year. Food at this age isn't for nutrition, but more to get them used to eating. They still get all their nutrition from milk. God Bless

Here's something for you to consider also:

I've chosen to cut dairy way back in my familys diets, and increase other foods that are high in calcium.

Try some soft fruit like bananas or peaches, my daughter still goes for that everytime and she's 4. Try giving her a small amount of yogurt too, just to see if she likes it. One thing I did was to go out and buy a blender so I could feed them table food but still be able to chop it up so they could eat it. My kids were eating table food before they were a year old like this. Experiment with different things and enjoy watching her try her different foods. I loved the faces my daughter would make when she would try to eat something sour like a granny smith apple (again, chopped up real good, almost pureed).

Have your tried instant oatmeal? My daughter loves apples&cinn and peaches&cream, strawberries&cream. I buy the quacker lower sugar kind or the weight control kind b/c it has less sugar and 7g of protein in it. My daughter is 16mths but has been eatting oatmeal for breakfast for months.

She may like cheerios, bananas as my daughter did. Yogurt made my daughter throw up/diahrea b/c her stomach couldn't break it down. She is just now able to eat it at 16mths.

Nutrients in Quaker Instant Oatmeal that are important to toddlers:
Iron: Needed for brain development and strengthening of immune system

Calcium: Critical for growing healthy bones and teeth

Magnesium: Builds strong bones

Vitamin A: Essential to vision, bone development and overall growth

Vitamin B6: Helps build body tissue and aids in fat metabolism

Folic Acid: Assists in healthy cell development

Riboflavin, Niacin and Thiamin: Promote overall growth and development

The baby food jars are labeled for age and development. Try giving her some fruits. Baby food fruits. You can try giving her eggs that you fix but that's kinds iffy. Some people say its all right while others don't. They make baby Yogurt that you can buy. It should let you know when they can have it. Good Luck! I know where your at right now. My Son is three. Remember to not let her get too picky about what she eats because it will cause problems later.

The Mayo book on baby's first year says that you can give babies yogurt starting at 8 months, but it contains a lot of sugar. It's really easy to make your own and mix bananas or something natural to sweeten it. I'll post a site below for a recipe.

No yogurt until 9 mos.

No eggs yet....egg yolks are OK after 9 mos.

Have you tried FRESH fruits instead of babyfood jars? Like smashing up a ripe banana? What about avocado? Most babies love that.

Eggs, or mashed bananas, or any mashed fruit. Don't do too much at a time, start off slowly just in case she gets allergic to anything. Applesauce is also good. Just grab whatever and throw it into your blender. Be careful of cow milk until the age of 12 months.

Cheerios one or two at a time are good. Yogurt is also good but stay away from the kinds packed with sugar. They sell one just for babies.
