i've travelled here and there except the states and asia/australia. I am originally from South AFrica and i cant seem to shake the idea that Cape town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, according to world cross country organizers, it usually ties with Athens and other such beautiful cities...(never been to Athens) I love Cape Town, if only for the beaches...life's a beach and if someone comes on here to mention the crime i'll say....life's a beach, and then you die...(har har) nope, our mother city is not as bad as some nastee people make it out to be...our mother rocks.

It's a tough decision to make, as the world holds so many beautiful places, But if I have to choose one, it would be the Maldives (1000 km south of Sri Lanka) it;s pure paradise! the 1345 islands that the Maldives is made up off, are all bounty-like. (When you fly into male, you see all of a sudden, (when there are no clouds of course) these bright blue specs in the ocean, while still flying on cruising altitude... The people on the Maldives, are among the most friendly peoples of the world. It's Muslim country, but besides having respect for their religion, as in not going topless, etc. it's not even "invaded" by the number of hotels that "own" the islands. You're not only in paradise, but you also feel like your not a typical tourist, intruding into the world of the inhabitants. The government has been really smart, they let the islands occupy by hotels, but there are a very strict rules in order to maintain the beauty of it all! Diving there is a dream come true, I personally found it more beautiful then the great barrier!! Well palm trees white sandy beaches and bluer then blue sea... But my best argument is that it's the only place I have ever been to where everything was even more beautiful then in the travel brochure!!!

A couple of years ago a group of friends and I hired a boat from Bodrum Turkey and cruised around for 7 days. The boat included all our meals cooked for us (and they were delicious), all the gear for snorkeling, kayaking, fishing (and a bbq for what ever was caught) etc. and the water was warm and crystal clear. We could take our own alcohol on or buy it there for a ridiculous £1 a bottle for drinkable wine. The boat was 'staffed' with a captain, firstmate and chef and they were really good at staying to themselves, but also a lot of fun to hang out with in the evenings. We all had our own (admittedly small but you didn't spend much time in them) rooms and bathrooms. The boat docked once a day to check out the markets, visit a traditional rug making village, visit mud pools. The highlight though was visiting cleopatra's island which was stunning. It was far and away the best holiday that we have ever been on. I think you can get very similar style holidays along the coast of croatia...

The best holiday I have had is in Berlin as a city I think its beautiful (especially given the history it has had to get past).
I love a certain beach near Alacante believe it or not, also La managa has some awesome fews in the south of Spain.
Untouched Croatia I hope stays just that as it is just so lovely has everything Sun Sea Sand and mountains. But the best view I have ever had the pleasure of seeing is at the top of Snowdon, it is simple breathtaking.

Northern Italy is beautiful - Lake Como north of Milan and the Dolomites in the north-east.

The western US is beautiful too - Yellowstone, Yosemite, Bryce Canyon, Zion Park.

North Wales at Whitsun with Mum and Dad and sister. The sun shone, the birds sang. I had never seen any mountains or rivers with rocks and waterfalls before except in pictures. It was a total adventure and best of all, we went for a week when the others were at school, with the school's full knowledge.

Much have I travelled in the realms of gold, but for sheer beauty, the Highlands of Scotland are unsurpassed.
In my old age, however, there's no place like home.
