Yes. Opuntia compressa and Opuntia fragillis are NATIVE to Michigan. Some others will grow in Michigan as well.

Absolutely not.. Most cacti will NOT grow throughout the year in Michigan.. Of the top of my head, I do not know of any...

No.. I take that back.. there are several varities of cacti called the Opuntia, Check with your nursery to see if they can be obtained there.. I think there are about 9 or 10 varieties of Opurtia that exist...

yes there is a few you can grow .. the only name i can remember is winter cactus.. that flower in the spring.. i have the lemon yellow.. but seen red too.. i can get you peices of the yellow, if you live near by.. i'm in chesterfield, mi.. plants are in sterling heights..
