Scott's 1000sheets/roll one ply - but NOT the extra soft stuff which is icky and leaves tissue fibers! The regular kind is strong and effective. Also is economical and you don't have to change the roll every other day. There are coupons for this in the paper all the time too.

I've always bought one-ply because my kids seemed to tear off the same length whether it was one ply or two, so there was less waste with one.
And I think it's disgusting to dry-wipe a poop. American bathrooms have sinks in the same room as the toilet. Only takes a sec to wet a few squares of tp and do a more thorough cleaning.

two ply, 3 feet long, folded to one square size.
Of course there' the Army method. One square, tear and retain a hole large enough for your index finger to stick through. Clean with your finger, wrap and wipe with the sheet as you remove it. The torn out piece? That's for cleaning under your fingernail.
