They are brine shrimp. Don't waste your money, they don't last long, and they are un-trainable.

Sea-Monkey is a brand name of a hybrid of Artemia salina, a species of brine shrimp. These are a type of fairy shrimp—not true shrimp, but a branchiopod. The term Sea-Monkeys (sometimes unhyphenated) is a trademark used to sell them as a novelty gift. They originate in salt lakes and salt evaporation flats.
Sea-Monkeys can reproduce both sexually (requiring a male and a female) and asexually. When the eggs are laid, there are fewer males than females per "litter". This is probably because they are not needed for reproduction. Females stop reproducing with the males when the males are too few.
Sea-Monkeys have been cited in studies of DNA and sexual behavior, primarily because they are commonly available specimens.

Brine shrimp, and they are not as exciting as the box says. They don't have a little world of their own and build cities as also indicated on the box. Trust me you haven't missed out on anything.

they are brine shrimp eggs that one puts in a small plastic container of water with ornate decorations and waits for them to hatch. If and when they do, one is supposed to pretend they are really monkeys swimming in water.

They are brine shrimp and they are a drag and they don't live very long.
They just called them "monkeys" because what kid would want brine shrimp for "pets."

Supposedly they're tiny shrimp, have hatched two tanks. They're really easy to take care of but you have to keep them in a sunny window or they'll die.

Seamonkey is also a very fast and light browser, I think. I wondered where the name came from.
