I have friends who were educated in what are the remnants of the British Colonial system. By that, I mean that their countries were once colonized by England, and so I am assuming that some of the old structures of governing remain, adapted and changed after independence, of course, but most countries started with similar colonial structures.

Those friends were able to advance quickly in American Colleges, because they had had courses in their "high schools" that are rarely taught before college in this country.

Of course, these friends come from generations of successful families, how else would their families be able to afford to send students to foreign schools? The cost of living in America is quite high compared to my friends' home countries.

So, as an American, I take some exception to your claim that India is so much farther advanced than we are.

There are differences, to be sure. And I know that almost all the customer service people I call to computer help, or when I call about my accounts, the voices are probably Indian, from the accent.

So, in some ways, American companies are farming out customer services, and India is remarkably skilled in landing those contracts. You have that to be proud of.

And, of course, India is a very old country compared to the United States. Your civilization is your own, tho inevitably affected by its former relationship with England. Of course we Americans have a similar colonial relationship with England.

Each country has good points and bad. I think our schools could do a lot better than they do in educating.
