It is a fitting coming out of one of the valve covers. It should have a hose on it going back to the breather housing. It just pulls out of a rubber grommet that is stuck in the valve cover.

There will be a blak hose comming from carberator. about 1/2
inch round going to valve cover. In the hose between carberator
and valve cover there will be a little metal thing about 1 1/2 inches long, That would be your PVC Valve

It really depends on what car it is on. Most of em will fit into the top of one of the valve covers with a hose that is running back to the intake. Some of them are inbetween the hoses from the valve cover to the intake.

There are all kinds of different valves depending on the make and model of your car, but here are some images:

Most valves are a variation on either the straight valve or the one with a 90-degree bend in it.
