Hi.

I performed a google.com search on "legal advice FEMA". Here's a few links offering free legal advice regarding FEMA cases:

http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060331/NEWS0110/603310338

http://www.lawonline.com/index.rwl?source=golo&gclid=CJKNmIjkkYcCFSgSGAodDEXWsQ

Also, there are free legal forums/message boards where you can post questions regarding your case.

Best wishes!

go to a DRC, *disaster relief center* , there are people there who can help you file an appeal if you were denied. But dont be expecting a huge handout with out verification of sufficient needs. Its like this, they did hand out alot of money to alot of people, some needy some not. unfortunatey. Now they are starting to get a grip on controlling their issuings (as they well should), and its harder to get grants. Basically, there are some services that are still being provided, and arent very hard to get. such as medical care, debris removal, etc. Call fema's helpline, or visit a DRC to decide what your next move should be. now I wont lie, there is a TON of red-tape that you might have to cut through with FEMA, even to get what you really deserve. Contine to submit whatever it is that they say they need, and if you cant get to a DRC and you get an ignorant jerk on the phone, simply call back until you get someone who will cooperate with you. As a fellow orleans parish citizen, I feel that if you paid taxes, and supported the community before the disaster, you are entitled to get realistic help for your imediate needs. but DONT expect them to continue to support or provide help that is beyond your pre-katrina income level, 12 months after the fact. the hand of the government is slowly squeezing the funds pump closed. probably the best thing for all of us to do is get out there and work harder than ever before to make our city great again, stop depending on the government to fill our lil mouths, and learn how survive on our own. but thats just my thoughts.

It's like this. Your state got TONS of money before Katrina. You did not fix the Levies. After Katrina, you got even more money. You used it to buy Tattoos and pay for strippers. Right now, it's a been year since Katrina, and we are starting to wonder, 'how much is enough?' When will you take responsibility for your own situation? Are you incapable? If you are TRULY unable to fend for yourself, we have NO problem helping you along. We have proven this time and time again. If you want control (of your life), take responsibility.
