txt, jpeg, html. and hundreds more depending on the particular use for the file. the extension is used by a particular program and may vary between programs based on what the program is written to work with. some programs can work with the same file but have to translate it into what that program allows. word is a good example. it recognizes doc extentions and tranlates ttxt file into doc files so it can work with them, these are text files, in case you didn't know, and are written by various word processor programs, often in different program language, such as java and c+++.
