My granmother used to have a repeating nightmare that she told us about.
She dreamt that she was standing an an Elizabethan style banquet hall with a long oak table and benches. Seated at the table and eating the richest foods and wines were all the most famous people in the world -- the real gossip sources like Marylyn Monroe, Eroll Flynn, May West, Howard Hughes... At the end of the long table was a HUGE firelplace with a roaring fire.
She asked the waiter where her husband was. He replied, "I'm sorry madam, there has been a serious mistake. He will be along any minute."
She looked out the window and it was bitterly cold ouside. Outside there were people walking around in circles in the snow.
She asked the attendant, "Who are those people out there? It looks like absolute hell!"
Her attendant replied, "No ma'am, you must be mistaken.... That's heaven.... This is hell...."
She would wake up at that point.

Last night I had a nightmare that I went to hell. I knew I was having nightmare. It was terrible there were flames everywhere. It looked like everything you have ever pictured in your mind what hell would look like. It was hot to. I hate it when I know I'm dreaming and I can't take control. I kept saying I'm dreaming and nothing was working. then finally when Satan appeared I was able to take some control. I started saying this is my dream and I control it. Satan got all huge and big, and So I did to. But it seemed to go on forever. Then when I woke up I could not move I was afraid that I was still dreaming. My mind was telling me to move but I could not physically. I was literally frozen. I've had these kind of nightmares before, where I start screaming in my dream and can't move then waking up and finding I can't move and screaming for help. That is crazy and scary.

When I was about 3 years old, I used to dream regularly that I was dead, and that I was hovering above my own grave. There was another grave nearby and I was horrified, appalled and terrified to be dead. I knew that I could feel everything just as I had when I was alive, but I couldn't speak. My feelings were that I wanted my life back and that there was someone who was supposed to be with me who was missing and I kept silently asking "Where is she?" I didn't know how exactly I had died but I felt that it had been because of something stupid and perhaps reckless I had done. I used to wake up feeling enormously relieve that I wasn't dead after all and for quite a while I didn't want to go to sleep because I didn't want to have that horrible dream again.

At the beginning of the nightmare, I heard my alarm go off and I hit the snooze button (this was in the nightmare). The I heard someone breaking into my house, and I saw them walking around my room with a gun but they thought I was asleep so they were just taking things. I was laying still but my heart was beating so fast, because I thought they would find out that I was really awake. Then, when the alarm really did go off to wake me up, it scared me so badly because I thought someone really was in the house with a gun, I just hit the snooze button and laid in bed pretending to be asleep for a long time until I realized I couldn't hear anyone.

I had a nightmare last night, my husband bought me a green car and told me to take him to a shopping centre which I did, when we got there he bought me some ballet shoes that had no ties or laces in them, we bumped into his sister-in-law who hasn't spoken to us for years and she tried to grab my husband and make him talk to her, when he said he didn't want to she walked off laughing and turned back shouting at us that our dog would suffer for it, next we were going down some really slippery wet steps and our dog was drowning in a big pool, it was horrible and I woke up crying, but looking at it my interpretation of it is, our dog has had a biopsy recently and we thought she had lymphoma cancer which thankfully she hasn't, so seeing her drown in a pool was seeing her lost to us like we thought was going to happen, we thought she was going downhill and we were on some slippery slope with her, our sister-in-law was mentioned in dispatches yesterday during a conversation, guess that's why she was in my dream, the shoes were another thing I talked about yesterday and said I hate lace ups, but the car has me puzzled a bit as I can't drive and even if I could I would not pick a green one, nightmares are just dreams put into a context that can be worked out and put away and forgotten about, hope you don't have anymore and if you do don't worry they are just dreams.

I could hear someone sawing through my door lock and opening the door, I could hear them come into my room and I couldnt move, (in the real world my phone then rang) and it was my sister who lives in USA and who used to live in this apartment. It woke me up and I told her the dream. She said to go switch the light on and she said it was just as well that she had phoned as she had had the very same dream but no one had woken her and the thing which had come in the door, kneeled on her bed and stabbed the bedcovers all around her and she'd been frozen to the spot too! Spooky.

About 1956, I was 12 years old, and we had just moved back form Arkansas to Iowa. I had a little brother, and one night I had a very vivid color dream that the rabbits had eaten his skin off and he was sitting there looking at me with all insides visible.
I think the color made it 10,000 times worse. It was so scary I couldn't even tell anyone about it. But, 52 years later, I still remember that scary dream.

My uncle was chasing after me with a chopper and I just ran and ran, until I reached the top of a building, and I didn't stop running. Before I knew it I fell off the edge of the building. It was the kind of dream whereby you wake up thinking you are falling. My heart was thumping so hard that night!
