I don't mean to be funny here, but I don't think Americans from the Midwest can really tell foreigners apart. They thought my Japanese friend was Indian. They thought my Indian friend was Mexican - and they thought a dark-haired German was an Italian!!!

Usually very nice..but have customs that are very strange and should let some go.
I rode a shuttle bus many years ago to get to my job at Chrysler IT and when the bus from the parking lot was full they would lay on top of each other like sardines in a can so they would not have to wait for then next bus or walk.
It was less than a 1/4 mile!
Let's face it they sound like mosquitoes when they speak and it's very difficult to understand them and you just want to start swatting.
Mother Teresa and Gandhi were extra ordinary people and there lives still amaze me.
How can a country be so advanced but it's people live lives that are utterly unthinkable to Americans.
Is corruption rampant?
I think they are very generous and caring though...My sister works for a rich indian hand doctor that has a lucrative practice.
He could easily retire for the rest of his life but is concerned that my sister will be out of work if he does.

They can be very nice, but once you get to know them, you find there are two different factions. One faction believe in the caste system and go around thinking that they're better than most everyone else. I generally find them arrogant as a whole. They came to this country and are taking advantage of our infrastructrure. In the meantime they are lowering our standards concerning customer service and patient care, then get on some self proclaimed high horse that they are making everything better here and improving things. They belittle this country and our citizenry, think India is the greatest country in the world, yet they came here to improve their own plight...

Then there is the other faction. This group of indians are most dishonest, generally don't bathe, and bend the rules so that they are more appealing for them. They're the ones that ignore zoning laws, housing occupancy laws, sales prices, shop lifting laws, and general litter laws.

I liked President Clinton, but his decision to open the flood gates of immigration from India was a huge mistake to this country.

I'm not from the Midwest, but in general, I believe most Americans, myself included, find Indians who immigrant to America to be good citizens, lay-abiding, well-educated and supportive of education in their children, very family-oriented and quite responsible.

I like anyone who is a nice person no matter what their nationality is and so far all of the Indian people I have encountered I have found to be very friendly. I love the artwork of India and really enjoy Indian cuisine. FYI, I live in the US southeast.

Midwest girl here. I've met online, and offline, a few 'Indians' and find them to be very educated, open minded, and friendly, and intuitive and enlightened to the ways of the Universe. We could learn much from them.

I find it difficult to understand them when they speak.. so I have asked that they slow their speech down, and I try to concentrate more. This is no offense to them! My hearing isn't as great as it use to be.. too much static in my ears. Sorry, but they sometimes talk faster than I do, and on a different frequency.

I find all people fascinating.. color/shade/hue of their skin, their hair and eyes.. their scent.. how they move their hands, their speech.. how their mouth moves when they talk.. what their eyes say that their words don't always convey.. how they conduct themselves.. then I like to get deeper and know the person.. their thoughts, etc..

Again, no offense, please.. I tend to look first from an artistic point of view, seeing all the beauty of people.. and then learning their hearts.

they are OK with me.

many salespeople perceive indians to be a waste of time, because they act interested but really only want as much free information as possible.
