Compaq has always made good serviceable laptops and servers. their desktop machines have gone through some quality issues. Compaq has now joined forces with HP, so I would have no concerns about buying one. It just depends on the price and features, but I would say any Comp ac laptop would be OK. In many respects all laptops are alike, it just depends on the features and price.

Seriously, NO. Avoid at all costs. I gave up my compaq laptop after using it for 7 months, while I used my IBM's one for a good 3 years throughout uni (had to change it though to keep up with technology). Am using an ACER now, which is alright except that my last ACER laptop went defunct on me 2 months after the warranty expired... your call really!
