okay heres the dal. you can have any where from 40 cards and up as it says in the officail rule book. you have to have more tha 40 cards to play the ganme or your deck would not be considered as "qualified". so you can even have 72 cards if you want! but the thing is ,the more card you have, the worse chance you have of getting the cards you need. thats why is best to have somewhere near 50 cards. thats how much i have in my deck.if you want a copy of the yu-gi-oh! rulebook that has all the info, go to http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/ and then go to the tab- learn to duel- and they will have an official rulebook you can download and also a little video that will teach you how to play. peace out, good luck and god bless!

The bare mininmum is 40 cards, whereas the max is another story. Believe it or not, the sky is the limit to how many cards you can duel with. Starter decks range from 40 to 50 cards. This is mentioned in the rule book when you buy the Starter Decks or online with the link below.

You can have a total of 40 cards or more. A deck with 39 cards or below is not considered to be an offical deck.

Most people would call my deck gigantic by tournament standards at 52 cards. I just like following the monster/spell & trap ratio. 26 monsters, 13 spells, 13 traps. 40 card minimum and higher is an official deck.

I would probably say 40, cuz its the minimum you can have and you might wanna draw the cards you need and in the tournaments the max is 50, I have 40 in mine, and even with that number I dont always draw the cards I need

i think you can have as many cards in your duleling deck as you want. it all depends on your strategy as to how many you end up using.
