I was an unsuccessful scout. I was very nonconformist. I refused to use pasta to make a picture preferring tiny brown rice mosaics, I fashioned nooses on macrame day instead of plant hangers. Dues were a dime and I brought a twenty and demanded change.

Yeah, Brownies sucked. I was the only one smart enough to figure out that they were trying to use us for SLAVE LABOR...going door to door, or standing out in the hot sun selling cookies! No hourly wage, no commission, nothing! If you sold like, 5000 boxes, you could pick out some worthless crap in a catalog, like a sippy cup. I was rather resentful, and very nonconformist about it as well. ☺

I am a former Brownie Scout--I wish I had had the guts to behave the way you did, although I would as an adult be slightly concerned about seven-year-olds making macrame nooses...
I mean, I guess this isn't really a question that requires an elaborate answer so much as a validation of your non-conformity, so...congratulations. You were a cool little kid. Much cooler than I was when I was a Brownie.

Got a lot in common don't we?
I was a Brownie, bumbled along with the troop, unaware of anything but the big slide on the playground.
Later I was a CampFire Girl. Mom was the troop leader. You can imagine how THAT went. Guess who ran the troop? Literally RAN, away from troop activities and on my own agenda, with all my friends in tow.
Recently I found some old CampFire Girl beads in my old jewelry box. I marveled to Mom about how many beads I had won. She laughed and said I stole ALL those beads out of the leaders supply box.
Figures.

You're the best damn girl scout I've heard of....you rock! I was a former brownie, my troop leader was a *****..she favored her daughter, and didn't like me that much cuz I was older than the other brownies....and I bossed them around....I believed that I had seniority. I hated that **** that u had to take a ******* buddy to the bathroom with u.

what was so bad about it? i didn't always love it, but i didn't go trying to make the leaders life a living hell, jeez. it's not like it's their fault u were there, it was ur parents. or it was u not wanting to quit cause u were having too much fun being a little hellion. i don't know.
