I don't know the sender so I don't open them. But everyday I get one from different names and the subject is always just jumbled letters? I am sure it is a scam of some sort or a virus but how do I stop it without opening it? Thanks.

These e-mails are usually spam. People are jumbling the letters in order to get past the spam filters. For example. if they were to write "sex" in the subject line, it would probably be rejected by the spam filter. But if they jumble the letters, it confuses the filter since it doesn't recognize that spelling as being anything that the filter needs to flag.

It's more than likely spam. The reason for the jumbled letters is that it is more than likely encoded in a different language font that you don't have installed in your email program. Such as, japanese, korean, russian, or arabic.

i get them as well, and never open them. i don't know how to block them either, they're always different senders. it seems to have lightened up a bit lately, though, maybe a couple a week.
