The new intel based Macs perform just as well as the equivalent PC with the same processor. However, there are some major differences that make the Mac much much better:

1] The Mac is Unix based so more secure than Windows and more efficient.
2] The Mac doesn't suffer from viruses and malware like Windows does - therefore you don't need to sap your resources by running loads of anti-virus and malware/popup blockers on your system.
3] You can run windows on the Mac - either as dual boot system *or* by a software called Parallels Desktop. Using the latter you can run Windows and OS X side by side and copy and paste between them. I use Parallels to create Windows programs (for work) on my Mac - it is actually faster than using my old Toshiba PC laptop (which is now a coffee coaster).

BTW... if anyone tells you vhemently that PCs are better - they probably never even used a Mac.

Have been building PC's for awhile now and use them everyday. Going to buy an IMAC since they can dual boot and you can use windows programs inside of Mac's OS with a program called parallel. In terms of graphics and music I would say MAC for everything else PC.

if you looked for the performance, the PC is winner, because Apple computer create his software own and the PC have many software creators.
if you looked for the models, Apple is the winner, because the shape is beauty and the colour is shiny.

Note: why you dont use a linux PC or Vista PC, that item is so cool

Macs make PCs running Windows look like something from the dark ages.
Why not try Linux on the PC first?

MACs are more stable. If you are into books or publishing of any type you want a Mac. If you want to play games and write your own applications for a specific purpose you want a PC.

Some of the newer MACs allow PC apps to run.

MACs usually cost more.
