The sixties were a mixture of traditional families and new "hippie" ideas that sort of blended for teenagers. We were experimenting with everything! Social life where I was raised included alot of music, dancing and famous bands (Hendrix, Creme, Animals, Beatles, etc) and exposure to different music like funk and R & B. The music itself was magical ! New films, new clothing, new attitudes and new social significance. We protested when we didn't like something; we didn't just sit on our collective as*s*es and bit*ch about it. It was an awesome time to grow up and now.....we are your parents!!! Ain't life grand?? What else is karma for, Dude? Godloveya!

depends upon what part of the 60's. the early part of the 60's were similar to the 50's. where i grew up we wore jeans, tee shirts black leather jackets. we didn't rebel except perhaps in dress and what our " slang " meant. even the " slang " we used was different from other areas of the country. there were hot rods, motorcycles and poodle skirts. there were senior cords and now those in school don't know what they are. the music was definately different as we grew up listening to Elvis, Ricky Nelson, The Killer, the big bopper. along with Annette and Frankie Avalon the beach party series by Disney.
there are many other things in the early 80's such as the first rear engined car in the Indy 500. so there was a lot going on besides the drug and sex era. the Viet Nam war was a bad thing as many lost their lives fighting for the freedom of others and were unappreciated by being called " baby killers " and worse by the war protesters. read and talk to some of those who " have been there done that " for more details.

Oh, how I wish I knew. A lot worse and a lot better than today: both.
I do know about British mods, though. They were a generally middle-class group of young men and women who followed the fashions of that era very strictly and according to what their leaders, called "faces" wore and acted like (mods who weren't faces were "tickets"). They used a lot of drugs, spent a lot of money they didn't have, listened to music all the time, held riots on the beaches, rode around on scooters to get to dance halls, and generally had a lot of fun.
Mod men generally wore close-cut Italian-type suits (termed "zoot suits") with slits down the side called "side vents" to allow extra movement. Women's haircuts were generaly short, and eye makeup bold.
I hope I helped you out, because mod culture was a huge part of British (and American) culture in the '60s.

Living in Athens-Greece, 60's were a safe point for me. No one had to lock up houses, shops or cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We daily used to receive...uninvited people for lunch or dinner, so we used to have placed a...spare plate for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every week end we used to be with our friends(all day) doing things! We knew every one in the District and saluted them, using the first name and he'd probably envite us for a drink! We were not afraid of being alone down the streets or using the buses! Policemen were performing a boring job, giving tickets to wrong parked cars only! We did not have cell phones or portable radios,or much money, but we enjoyed girl company and we shared the one -and only one-ice cream we could afford buying....(hahahaha).
No gas pollution(!), no motorbike rumours(!), no practicing swearing on the streets, man was it a paradise or not ????
We had money only to spend on Saturday night, listening to music(along with our girl) and then we were on the hope to be given a kiss, which would last for the next week end!!!! Sea was crystal clear, blueish-green, water was for free, you could ordre a soda and ...3 glasses of water, should we'd be 4 on the table and no reaction on the part of the waiter!!!!(hahaha, do it now!!!!)!
We raised up, of course by the Beatles,Elvis, R.Stones, french and Italian music, and watching Western films(Roy Rogers,Tom Mix, Garry Cooper, etc), all being our idols and day dream!
No drugs, extorsions, sex crimes, street killings or bullshits of the kind!
Our only harassment was the decline, some decline on the part of a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At that moment, I first tasted my first Coca Cola (tin), bought it from the US base in Athens! I felt like a ...God!!!!
R all these enough, or do you want...more ????
Ciao.....John-John.
