About 12 -14 weeks ago, lottery officals stopped using the random ball selector and started to use THEIR computers to select the winning numbers. Since that time, if you check past winning tickets for the last year, you will find the $2 to $20 winners have increased, but the larger payouts have been reduced around 30%.
Information leaked that out that only .45 cents of EVERY dollar is applied to the lottery payouts and .55 cents is for administerative costs. Lottery officals have stated, "If you don't like it, don't play". Wow. Have we created a monster or what?

Does this bother anyone else, or are we so used to being screwed we are numb to the financial rape the working class sustains by the city and state governments?

I believe your information is in correct. Somewhere in the piece of the pie is money the government uses for special projects.

It is common knowledge that lotteries take in more than pay out. Your example is close to 50/50, I don't think it's usually that close - more like 65/35 with the 35 being the payout prizes and the 65 covering administration and special projects.

If it weren't for the lotteries, your taxes would be higher to pay the special projects the current lottery take-in money pays for.

I'm not bothered by this at all. The money the lottery takes in is voluntary money from players/participants of which I'm one. It's a form of voluntary tax and it eases the other types of taxes. I just wish all taxes were voluntary like this.

I don't know what your complaint is about. Some jackpot winnings has been to stupendously much. No one needs to win $200 million, that needs to be divided up to more participants, If what you're saying about the pay out changes is true, then it sounds like someone has finally made a good decision and that indeed more of the money is going to be spread out to more of the players - ABOUT TIME!

The only great lottery system is in Thailand, it is an all day process, first they pick names of people to come into the lottery hall, then once your in they again draw to see who will spin the different baskets, when this is done and the ball comes out then another person with that number comes up and then they spin to see what position they will be in, like a 6 number lottery, then they spin and pick a ball, then they are rotated to another basket, and all the different lotteries are drawn that way the 6 numbers the 3 and 2 numbers etc, impossible to fix it, but in america with a computer, you can fix anything!

I didn't know that, and it is troubling, but not surprising.
